Pot Climber
About Pot Climber
Pot Climber is a climbing game about a man stuck in a cooking pot with nothing but a sledgehammer, and a very tall mountain. You never control his legs, because he has none to speak of. You control the hammer. Move the mouse (or drag your finger) around the pot and the hammer head follows. Swing it through the air and nothing happens; press it into rock and it holds, and then the pot moves instead: push down to lift yourself, hook the edge of a ledge and pull yourself over, or fling yourself across a gap. Climb boulders, wobbly wooden planks, a slab of ice where the hammer slowly slides, and thin metal posts high in the sky. One clumsy swing can undo ten minutes of progress, and the game only says something comforting while you fall. The sky turns from blue to sunset to starlight as you climb. Your climb is saved as you go, so you can stop and come back later, and the fastest time to the summit goes on the leaderboard. Every section of the mountain is checked by a computer climber in our tests, so it can always be done. The rest is up to you. Pot Climber plays free in your browser with a mouse, a finger or the keyboard.
How to play
The hammer head follows your mouse or finger around the pot. Press it into rock to push the pot up and along, hook ledges and pull, and swing to throw yourself. On a keyboard, the left and right arrows swing the hammer round and up and down reach out and pull in. Reach the flag at the top of the mountain.
Questions
Is this really possible?īŧ
Yes. Every section of the mountain is climbed by a computer player in our tests, starting from standing on the section below.
I fell all the way down. Is my progress lost?īŧ
Your best height is kept, but you climb again from wherever you landed. That is the game. Take a breath and go again.
Is my climb saved?īŧ
Yes, every few seconds. Close the game and come back later to carry on from the same spot.
