About Hill Tanks
Hill Tanks is a turn-based artillery game where two cartoon tanks face each other across hills, valleys and mountains and take turns to fire. Set the angle and the power of your cannon, check the wind, and watch your shell arc over the hills. A dotted guide shows how your shot leaves the barrel, and a faint line remembers where your last shot went so you can correct it. Every explosion blasts a crater out of the ground, so the battlefield keeps changing: dig the hill out from under your enemy, drop them into a pit or tunnel straight through a mountain. Thirty levels take you through six worlds: the Green Meadow, the windy Sandy Dunes, the steep Frozen Peaks, the Night Swamp, a Moon Base with low gravity and the Lava Land, and every fifth level ends with a boss tank such as the Iron Ox, the Frost Giant or the Magma King. Unlock thirteen weapons as you go: the basic shell, the Big Shot, the Three Way, the Bouncer, the Roller that rolls into valleys, the Splitter, the Driller, the Fire Ball, the Seeker that steers towards its target, the Air Strike and the huge Mega Bomb, plus a Repair Kit and a Shield. Win with more health left to earn three stars, collect coins and upgrade your armour, firepower and fuel. You can also play against a friend on the same phone, tablet or computer. Hill Tanks plays free in your browser, and your stars, coins and upgrades are saved automatically.
How to play
Drag the round aiming pad, or drag anywhere on the battlefield: the direction sets the angle and the distance sets the power. With a keyboard, use the left and right arrows for the angle, up and down for the power, A and D to drive, Q and E to switch weapons and Space to fire. Watch the wind under the VS badge: it pushes your shell sideways. Drive with the arrow buttons until your fuel runs out, tap the weapon button to choose another weapon, then press FIRE. Hit the enemy tank until its health bar is empty before it does the same to you.

How do I aim better?īŧ
Fire a basic shell first and look where it lands. The faint dotted line shows your last shot, so adjust the power a little at a time until you hit, then switch to a stronger weapon. Remember to check the wind: a strong wind needs more or less power.
How many levels and weapons are there?īŧ
Thirty levels in six worlds with a boss tank at the end of each world, and thirteen weapons that unlock as you play, from the basic shell to the Mega Bomb.
What do coins do?īŧ
Coins buy upgrades: more armour (health), more firepower (damage) and more fuel so you can drive further each turn. You earn more coins for winning with more stars.
Can two people play?īŧ
Yes. Choose 2 Players on the start screen and take turns on the same device. Each battle gets a random world and battlefield.
Can I play on my phone?īŧ
Yes. Turn your phone sideways and the battlefield fills the screen, with the aiming pad, drive buttons, weapon button and FIRE button on top of the ground.
