Knockout Ring
About Knockout Ring
Knockout Ring is a boxing game you play from behind your own gloves, where reading your opponent matters more than mashing buttons. Each boxer telegraphs every punch: a glove pulls back and glows before it comes flying at you. A jab can be blocked or dodged either way, a wide hook has to be slipped away from the glove that throws it, and an uppercut cannot be blocked at all. Dodge it. When a punch misses, your opponent is wide open for a moment: that is the time to fire back with your left and right. Punch straight after a perfect dodge to land a counter and earn a star, then spend a star on a crushing uppercut that leaves them seeing stars. Punch a boxer who is still on guard and most of your shots will be blocked, and too many blocked punches invite a quick counter-attack. Eight opponents stand between you and the belt, from Rookie Rex and Big Bruno to the lightning-fast Speedy Lin, the iron-chinned Iron Ivan, Tricky Tony with his fake wind-ups, Dancing Dee, The Wall and finally Champ Cruz. Win with more health left to earn up to three stars. Knockout Ring plays free in your browser with the keyboard or big touch buttons on phones and tablets.
How to play
Watch your opponent: a glowing glove means a punch is coming. Dodge with the left and right arrows (or the âĩ âļ buttons). For hooks, dodge away from the glove that swings. Hold the down arrow or đĄ to block jabs. When a punch misses, punch back with Z and X (or the đ buttons). Punching right after a dodge earns a star; press up or Space (â) to spend it on an uppercut.
Questions
Why do my punches get blocked?īŧ
Boxers on guard block most punches. Wait for them to throw and miss, then punch while they are open.
How do I dodge a hook?īŧ
Hooks swing in from the side, so move away from the glove that winds up: a hook from their left hand (your right side of the screen) needs a dodge to the other side.
How do I get uppercuts?īŧ
Punch within half a second of dodging a real punch: that counter earns a star. Each star buys one uppercut, which does big damage and stuns.
Who is the hardest boxer?īŧ
Champ Cruz, the last opponent, winds up the fastest, throws combinations and fakes. Every bout is tested with a computer player that reacts at human speed.
