About Hungry Hole
Hungry Hole is an arcade game about a hole in the ground with a big appetite. Drag anywhere to steer it around a busy little town: anything small enough tips over the edge and drops in, and the hole grows with every bite. Start with traffic cones, bins and people who run away when they see you coming, move on to benches, trees, cows and cars that brake in front of you, and finish by swallowing whole houses, barns and even tower blocks as the camera pulls back to show how big you have become. You have a minute and a half or so on each map: eat 40% of the town for one star, 65% for two and 85% for three. Ten levels take you through city streets, a big park, a farm at harvest time and a beach boardwalk, up to Mega City. A chain of quick bites builds a combo for more points. Every level is played in our tests by a computer player that simply heads for the best nearby bite, and it always earns at least one star, so any town can be beaten. Three stars take a good route. Hungry Hole is free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
How to play
Drag anywhere on the screen (or use the arrow keys) to steer the hole. Things smaller than the hole fall in; bigger things you just slide under until you have grown enough. Eat as much of the town as you can before the time runs out.
Questions
Why won't a building fall in?īŧ
It is still too big. Keep eating smaller things first; when the hole is wider than the building's footprint, it will drop in.
How do I get three stars?īŧ
Eat 85% of the town. Grow fast early on by sweeping up crowds of small things, then go after the big buildings, which count for the most.
Do the people and cars move?īŧ
Yes. People and cows run from a hole that could eat them, and cars drive along the roads but brake when the hole is right in front of them.
