Street Cricket is a batting game set where so much Indian cricket really happens: in the gully, between the houses and shops, with a taped tennis ball and a crowd of neighbours watching. You stand at the stumps, the bowler runs in down the street, and you tap at the moment the ball reaches the bat. Get the timing spot on and it sails over the rooftops for six. A touch early and you pull it to the leg side, a touch late and you cut it through the off side for four, or push it for a quick single or two. Mistime it badly and the edge may be caught by one of the kids in the field, and if you swing and miss a ball that is heading for the stumps, you are bowled. Balls that are going wide can simply be left alone. There are ten matches to win, each a run chase: Gali vs Gali, Rooftop Rivals, the Colony Cup and School Final, on through the Mohalla Derby by the river ghat and the Diwali Night Cup on a street of lamps, all the way to The Big Final. The bowling gets quicker and trickier as you go, with spin that turns, swing in the air, yorkers at your toes and bouncers at your head. Win a match without losing a wicket for three stars. Win two and the Super Over opens: bat until three wickets fall, as the bowling speeds up every over, and put your best score on the leaderboard. Street Cricket plays free in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. One tap or the Space bar is all you need, with no download and no account.
The bowler runs in and bowls. Tap anywhere on the game, click, or press Space at the moment the ball reaches your bat. Perfect timing hits a six, good timing a four, and a little early or late scores one to three runs. Early shots go to the leg side and late ones to the off side. Missing a ball that would hit the stumps gets you bowled, and a badly mistimed shot can be caught. If a ball is going wide of the stumps you can leave it. Score the runs needed before you run out of balls or wickets.
As the ball arrives at your bat, just in front of the stumps. Watch it bounce, then tap as it reaches you. After every shot a little note says whether you were early or late and by how many milliseconds, so you can adjust.
Time it perfectly. The window for a six is small, and it gets smaller in the later matches. Yorkers aimed at your feet are the hardest to hit cleanly, and bouncers are a little harder than normal balls.
Yes. If you do not tap, the ball goes past. That is safe if it was going wide, but if it was heading for the stumps you are bowled. When in doubt about a ball on the stumps, play at it.
Ten: Gali vs Gali, Rooftop Rivals, Colony Cup, School Final, Park Premier, Mohalla Derby, District Trophy, Diwali Night Cup, City Champions and The Big Final. Each one is a run chase in a different street.
An endless innings that opens once you have won two matches. You bat until three wickets fall while the bowling gets faster every over. Your total goes on the leaderboard.
Win the match without losing a wicket. Losing one still earns two stars, and any win earns one.
