About Tile Trio

Tile Trio is a triple tile matching puzzle with a festive look. A pile of tiles lies in front of you, stacked in layers, each one showing a picture from an Indian festival night: diyas, laddoos, kites, paper lanterns, sparklers, marigolds, rockets, gift boxes, jalebis, temple bells, rangolis and gold coins. Tap a tile with nothing on top of it and it slides down into the tray. Get three of the same picture into the tray and they clear away with a chime. The catch is the tray: it has only seven places, and if it fills up without three alike, the level is over. So you have to plan. Tiles lower in the pile are dimmed until whatever covers them is cleared, but you can still see what they are, so look ahead: pick tiles you already have one or two of, and dig towards the ones you will need next. Early levels are a single neat layer to learn the idea. Later piles have up to five layers, ninety tiles and all twelve pictures, and the order you pick in really matters. Every level is built so that it can be cleared, and each one gives you one Undo, to take back your last tile, and one Shuffle, to mix up the pictures left on the board. Clear a level without either for three stars. There is no timer, so you can take it slowly. Tile Trio plays free in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with one tap per move and no download.

How to play

Tap or click a tile that has nothing on top of it to move it into the tray at the bottom. When three tiles with the same picture are in the tray, they clear away. If all seven places in the tray fill up with no three alike, you lose the level. Dimmed tiles are covered by others: clear those first. Clear every tile to win. Undo takes back your last tile and Shuffle mixes the pictures on the board; you get one of each per level.

Questions

How do I win a level?īŧ‹

Clear every tile from the board. Tiles clear in threes: get three with the same picture into the tray and they disappear.

Why can I not pick some tiles?īŧ‹

They are covered by tiles above them, which is why they look dim. Clear the tiles on top first and they light up and can be picked.

What is the best way to avoid filling the tray?īŧ‹

Prefer tiles you already have one or two of in the tray, so they complete a set. Avoid picking lots of different single pictures, and look at the dim tiles to see what is coming.

Can every level be cleared?īŧ‹

Yes. Each of the thirty levels is built from a winning order of picks, so there is always a way to clear it without Undo or Shuffle.

What do Undo and Shuffle do?īŧ‹

Undo puts your last tile back on the board. Shuffle mixes up the pictures on the tiles still on the board. You have one of each per level, and using them still lets you win, with fewer stars.

How do I get three stars?īŧ‹

Clear the level without using Undo or Shuffle. Using one earns two stars, and using both earns one.
